- The great majority of roulette systems attempt to use mathematics to beat roulette. And without knowing it, the system designer usually attempts to find a way around the mathematical certainty. Almost every roulette strategy makes the same mistakes. For example, on a European roulette wheel, there are 37 pockets, but the payout is unfair 35 to 1.
- If you care way more about the payout than you do about minimizing risk, your best option is to go with the straight roulette bet. This involves betting on a single number and hoping that Lady Luck is on your side. The risk is extremely high, but the payout – 35:1, $350 for a $10 bet – is pretty freakin’ sweet.
If gambling had to pick a mascot, it would most likely be the roulette wheel. It is easily the most iconic game, appearing in nearly every movie or TV show that ever shows a casino. We remember the first time we approached a table, feeling quite nervous. What was this table about? What are all these outside bets? What’s that zero for? Yes, roulette can seem very daunting at first glance. But with our help, you’ll be a pro in no time!
Make Money on Roulette – The Best Ways If gambling had to pick a mascot, it would most likely be the roulette wheel. It is easily the most iconic game, appearing in nearly every movie or TV show that ever shows a casino. I write down the numbers roulette produces, and if i find out a opportunity to bet, i place bets, i place bets on 2 dozens at a time by doing this it increases more chance to win.
So, How Does it All Work?
The best place to start is the beginning, so let’s take a look at how a typical round of roulette goes. Players will put their chips down on the table, and can continue to do so while the dealer prepares to toss the ball into the wheel. Once the ball starts spinning, you aren’t allowed to make any additional bets. The ball spins, before landing on a number. If your wager matches the number in some way, you win a cash prize!

European or American?
While roulette comes in many shapes and sizes, the main split is American versus European. The difference boils down to the number of slots on each wheel. The European wheel has thirty seven slots – thirty six numbers, and one zero. American roulette has thirty-eight slots – thirty six numbers, one zero, and one double zero.
As a result, American roulette has a higher house edge: meaning it’s better for casinos. So if you’re a brand new gambler and have a choice, we’d definitely pick European roulette! It’s objectively better, with a 2.7% house edge compared to the 5.26% the American version offers.
Speaking of online casinos, players should try and find French Roulette, if it’s available. This game usually comes with either the Surrender or En Prison rules enabled, which further decrease the house edge! The difference is slight. Surrender returns half your bet if the zero or double zero hits. En Prison instead freezes the bet when you hit a zero or double zero. So on the next wheel spin, if the previous bet goes through, you get that wager back. Otherwise, the casino takes it. These rules are available for real life roulette too, so feel free to ask the dealer!
What Sort of Bets are There?
There are two types of bets: inside and outside ones. Inside bets are super simple: pick the numbers, and you’re ready to go. Roulette offers seven types of inside bets!
- Straight: You place a bet on a single number.
- Split: A wager that covers two numbers, made by placing the chip on the shared line between two adjacent numbers.
- Street: You place a stake on three consecutive numbers located on the same line. Make this bet by placing your chip on that row’s outer corner.
- Six Line: Same bet as street, but covers two lines instead of one! Place the chip on the common outer corner of the two lines.
- Corner: If you place a chip on the common corner of four numbers, that’s a Corner wager.
- Trio: You place a three number bet that includes the number zero. You can stake this if you put the chip on a line between the zero and other two numbers.
- Basket: Wagers on numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3 with a chip on the corner shared between the first line and zero. If you’re playing American roulette, it also includes the double zero.
Outside bets are much safer! This is because they cover a large group of numbers at once. Unfortunately, lower risk means a less valuable award! You have five or six outside bets, depending on the table you’re playing on.
- Red or Black: Guess the correct color, and you win the cash prize. Since the zero and double zero are green, it counts as a loss if you draw one of those two.
- Odd or Even: Bet on whether the winning number will be odd or even.
- 1-18 and 19-36: You’re betting on whether or not the winning number will be low (below 18) or high (above 19).
- Dozens: Dozens is similar to the previous bet. But instead of guessing on which half of the wheel the ball will land on, we’re wagering on third instead. It can be either 1-12, 12-24 or 24-36.
- Columns: Guess which column the winning number will appear from correctly, and you get a prize!
Okay, we can take a small breather here! As you can see, bets aren’t nearly as scary once you break them down. It’s just a matter of practice from here on out, and knowing when to use which one. For that, you’ll have to know which strategy to use!
Winning Strategies!
Now, it’s important to note that there’s no strategy that guarantees you will win. Roulette, like any other casino game, is designed to favor the house. But with a dash of luck, these strategies can improve your odds!
The first betting system we’ll tackle is Paroli, also known as the reverse Martingale. This is a personal favorite of ours, as it’s a lot safer than Martingale… if you can control yourself. Which is easier said than done, since this strategy is all about winning streaks!
The core idea behind the Paroli strategy is to start with the smallest possible wager and to increase it after every win. As you score win after win, your total profit snowballs, up until you hit a loss. When that happens, you start playing at the lowest possible stake again, and start over. Since you’re betting at the lowest possible bet when you lose, odds are you won’t go broke chasing after a single win, like you might with Martingale.
But it also has its flaws. One loss wipes all the profits you’ve accumulated up until that point. That said, it’s a flaw that can be overcome with self-control. Simply limit yourself to a maximum of three to five consecutive wins, and then reset. You gain less money, but your odds of losing everything after one bad spin are much lower, too!
Last betting system we’ll take a look at is the D’Alembert system. It’s similar to Martingale, but the method is a lot simpler and easier. Rather than doubling your wager each time and crossing your fingers for a win, D’alembert is a gradual increase. As a general rule of thumb, your starting bet with this betting system shouldn’t be more than 0.50% of your total funds.
Once you’re all set up, we can start playing! Each time you lose, you increase your wager by one unit, and decrease it by one on each win. For example, say you’re betting one euro. You lose two times, so you’re now wagering three euros per spin. Then you win once, which brings it down to two euros.
D’Alembert a safe system that keeps you from hitting table limits, and is great for players with limited budget. Of course, low risk means low-reward, so don’t expect amazing wins using this betting system.
And before we wrap this up, we’ll remind you again that the house edge is against you. While these systems help slightly, they can’t overcome the natural advantage given to the dealer. But playing with them is a lot better than playing randomly! So if you’re the type of gambler that takes advantage of every opportunity, you should definitely use one of these systems.

Where to Play in the USA?
SlotoCash
SlotoCash is a solid pick! They have live chat that’s available 24/7, a mobile friendly design, and lots of payment methods. Visa, MasterCard, American Express credit/debit cards are available, as are e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller. If you’re a fan of crypto, you can also use Bitcoin and Litecoin! We’d personally recommend e-wallets, since they aren’t subject to fees, and can make as many withdrawals as they like.
The casino only carries games made by Real Time Gaming. This is great news for players in the United States, as it allows them to play here! But while we like RTG as a software provider, they have a rather limited roulette selection. Players will have access to only two roulette games: American and European. However, this does make it easier for brand new players. Since you can only pick between two releases, you won’t feel overwhelmed by choice.
Uptown Aces
Another website we suggest checking out is Uptown Aces. This casino first drew our attention with its stylish aesthetic. It then won us over with its fantastic RTG software, support that’s available 24/7, and lots of banking options. It has all the banking methods you’d ever want: credit and debit cards, e-wallets, and even cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Litecoin! And if you like playing on your phone or tablet, Uptown Aces has an easy to use mobile layout.
Unfortunately, it suffers from the same problems that SlotoCash does when it comes to roulette games. On the plus side, it has great bonuses. Match bonuses, comp points, and instant cashback are all options you can look forward to. Another thing to keep in mind is that Uptown Aces has weekly promotions, too. So make sure you don’t miss out on those!
Black Diamond
We saved the best for last with Black Diamond casino! It offers games developed by Pragmatic Play, Betsoft and Octopus Gaming. It even has a live casino section, powered by Vivo! Several roulette wheels there if you want to try out your newly gained knowledge. Not only do you have a good variety of available releases, but a lot of them have a demo mode! Being able to try a game before committing real money to it is quite important. Any operator that gives us that option automatically earns themselves a few points in our book.
Speaking of real money, available payment methods include Visa and Mastercard credit/debit cards, EcoPayz, Bitcoin, Litecoin and Neosurf. We have to admit, available payment methods seem to be all over the place! Even worse, you can only make withdrawals using EcoPayz or bank transfers. And since bank transfers come with a fee, and EcoPayz doesn’t, the choice is rather obvious.
Where to Play in Canada?
Bodog
We’ve got a several recommendation: Which is Bodog! This website is only available to Canadians, so much so that you cannot even view it from other countries. It has several software providers: most notably RTG, Rival and Betsoft! They even have a few exclusive releases, if that’s something you appreciate. Deposits can be made via wire transfer or Visa and MasterCard credit/debit cards.
If you enjoy playing using your phoneor tablet, Bodog has you covered! They have an excellent app that makes playing mobile super easy! And if it being a great casino wasn’t enough, it even has a sportsbook section. That said, it does have a few flaws. Longer than usual withdrawal times aren’t that big of an issue, but no one likes to wait. The casino sometimes took a long time to load, and we don’t seem to be the only ones affected by this issue.
You've probably seen a roulette table before even if you've never played. They're an iconic image from any casino. While the wheel may look intimidating the game is actually very simple to learn. The object of Roulette is to pick the number where the spinning ball will land on the wheel. You can also bet combinations of numbers or choose the color or whether the number will be odd or even.
The Roulette Wheel
There are two different roulette wheels. The European wheel has 37 slots numbered 0-36. The house edge is 2.63. The American wheel has 38 slots with 0-36 plus a 00. The extra slot increases the house edge to 5.26 percent.
The Layout
The inside betting area contains the individual numbers on the layout. The outside betting area has boxes for the columns, red/black and odd/even and different groups of numbers.
The numbers on the inside are arranged in 12 rows of three numbers forming three vertical columns. The 0 and 00 are at the top of the columns.
Buying Chips
To avoid disputes, each player receives a different color chip at roulette. These chips are good for that table only and you must cash them in for regular casino chips when you are done. You cannot cash in the roulette table chips at the cage.
Each roulette table has a minimum and maximum bet. You can’t combine your inside and outside bets to meet the table minimum. If the minimum bet is five dollars, you have to bet $5 on the inside and/or $5 on the outside. You can’t bet $3 inside and $2 outside.
Inside Bets
There are several inside bets that you can make. You can bet a number straight up or straddle the line between numbers to select a combination of numbers. The payouts are as follows.
- Straight Up bet is a wager on a single number. It pays 35 to 1.
- Split Bet is a wager on two numbers and it pays 17 to 1. You make this bet by placing your chip so it straddles the line between any two numbers.
- Street bets or line bet pays 11 to 1. You make this bet by placing your chip on the vertical line separating the outside and inside betting areas. The chip straddles the first number in the row.
- Corner bet or Quad bet pays 8 to 1. You make this bet by placing a chip so it is touching the four corners of the numbers you are betting.
- Basket bet is a five number bet on zero – double zero and numbers-1-2-3 which pays 6 to 1. On the double zero wheel, it has a house edge of 7.89 percent making it the worst bet in Roulette.
- Double Street bet is a wager on six numbers and pays 5 to 1. You place your chip on the line separating the outside and inside area as you do for the street bet but let it also straddles the row above or below.
Outside Bets
The outside bets are any of the bets made in the boxes surrounding the numbers.
- Red Black Odd and Even are all even-money bets. Place your chips in the boxes on the layout.
- Dozens bet are made on the 12 consecutive numbers. Place your wager in the boxes marked 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36. These bets pay 2 to 1. If the zero or double zero comes up you lose.
- Column bets are also 12 number bets. These are the numbers in one of the three vertical columns. Place your wager in the boxes at the bottom of the layout. These bets pay 2 to 1.
The Dealer
Dealers are required to keep the wheel moving at all times, even between spins. They spin the ball in the opposite direction the wheel-head is traveling. This causes the ball to jump and spin before landing on a number.
The dealer will note the winning number with a marker. Always wait until the dealer removes the marker before making new bets!
